Our folks weren't cheap just because they were Chinese (although it does seem genetic), they were cheap because they were poor! You want to go see a movie? Fine, that'll take the month's entertainment budget for the month, so you'd better pack some snacks cuz there's nothing left for popcorn! You want to go out to eat? You better squat and say you're 10 when you're actually 16 to get the children's price at Hometown Buffet because the extra $4 is going to pay your college tuition! And even after they've reached mainstream status from immigrant-poor, those habits become so ingrained, its hard to get out of it. Besides, everyone knows that paying full price is for whitie! Plus your tissue-box is not anti-Chinese-ethics, its actually the epitome of all we strive for! You got something for nothing! That's the jackpot! That's even better the normal cheapskate policy of getting nothing for nothing! Unless you tell me that you could've gotten cash from that Pottery Barn gift certificate, in which case, I'm gonna drive up there, smack you and drive back home.
