Jeremy Wu is a happy person. Is there any simpler a way to describe someone? Aside from referring to myself in the third person, I identify myself with a variety of social descriptions. I am a Chinese-born American but I spent much of my childhood living in Canada. My formative years, I associate with Southern California. Today, I make my home in the Bay Area.

While I was born in Dallas, Texas, I call Calgary, Alberta, Canada, my childhood home town. My heart strings remain attached to Los Angeles–South Pasadena to be more exact–where I attended high school and lived throughout college. I hold two degrees from the University of Southern California and am much more than just a proud alum. My allegiances to the Trojan Family extend far beyond education and further than the success of the football team.

Speaking of allegiances, my hockey heart grew up on Theoren Fleury and Mike Vernon, so I am forever a Calgary Flames fan. When I arrived in Southern California, I thought you could lift your pivot foot and walk the basketball down the court; my basketball brains were developed by the skills of Elden Campbell, Sedale Threatt, Anthony Peeler, and Doug Christie. Thus, my loyalties lie with the Los Angeles Lakers forevermore. Although it began with football, the strength of my resolve to stand behind any team from USC was nurtured through years of bearing witness to runs up the middle on third and long.

My days are spent thinking about, and writing about sports. I have been greatly blessed with a career that I love with long work days that I find fun. However, my roots–still strongly planted–are in music. There are many things that bring a smile to face but the list of those things that can also warm my heart is short; music stands at the top. The day-to-day joys of my life come from cooking, photography, web design and new and social media. While I can appreciate the slow-paced, downtrodden road taken by prior generations, I leap to embrace the connectivity and moment-to-moment speed at which our world moves today.

Fascinations with the concept of time and the idea of love occupy the ever-fleeting free moments of my mind. The three decades of which I have lived on this earth, nearly all of the last has been at the side of my true love, April. She is my rock and my constant; the earthly embodiment of what a blessing of love from God is. Our life as one began on April 19, 2008.

Today, I serve the coaches and student-athletes of the University of California in Berkeley as a media relations director and web manager in the department of Intercollegiate Athletics. The time I spend away from the office is none-wasted as I volunteer for the Berkeley Animal Shelter. My exploration of the Bay Area continues whenever there is a free moment; from walks to restaurant experiments to participating in local events such as Bay to Breakers. I am a devoted husband and a brother and son to the best family a man could ever ask for. I am also a child of God, my redeemer, comforter, and friend.
